In addition, St. Elizabeth Health Center is the area’s only ACS verified, Level 1 Adult and Pediatric trauma center. Two other hospitals, St. Joseph Health Center and Trumbull Memorial Hospital, are rated Ohio Provisional Adult Level 3 trauma centers.
The area’s health care facilities recently made extensive investment in the Youngstown-Warren community.
Forum Health is in the process of a $70 million upgrade and expansion project that includes new urgent care facilities, enhanced surgical theatres, new facilities for birth and delivery and additional diagnosis and testing facilities.
Humility of Mary Health Partners recently finished construction on new surgery facilities and an urgent care facility. HMHP also constructed a $77 million, four-story general acute hospital, which opened summer 2007.
U.S. News and World Report ranked St. Elizabeth Health Center as one of the Top 50 Hospitals in the nation for urology and one of the 100 Most Wired Hospitals.
The Youngstown-Warren region ranked 23rd in Offices of Osteopathic Physicians and 18th in Nursing & Personal Care Facilities in a recent study by Economy.com and Milken Institute. Pittsburgh and Cleveland, within a 75-mile radius of Youngstown, received honors as overall top Metropolitan Areas, ranking 11th and 14th respectively.
Regional Health Care
U.S. News and World Report recently ranked the Cleveland Clinic as one of the top five hospitals in the nation. Other hospitals within a 75-mile radius that were named among the top 20 nationwide in specific categories are: Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, Magee-Women’s Hospital, University Hospitals of Cleveland and University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
