In August 2009, the Chamber initiated its International Business Attraction strategy under the leadership of Vice President of International Business Attraction Eric Planey. This strategy has three primary goals:
- to foster inward investment into the Mahoning Valley and Cleveland-Youngstown-Pittsburgh TechBelt region,
- to assist companies in Mahoning Valley with overseas exporting and joint venture opportunities,
- and to ensure that the social-economic=political climate in this area is conducive to global investment opportunities.
The Chamber has also has strengthened ties with the Ohio Department of Development's Global Markets Division, NEOTEC's International Trade Assistance Center and the U.S. Commerce Service to assist local companies with expanding their already strong export capabilities.
