The Mahoning Valley is quickly becoming a hub of activity in the Marcellus Shale Formation, proving the region to be a prime location for the manufacture and distribution of natural gas drilling and delivery equipment, as evidenced by V&M Star’s undertaking of a $650 million expansion project at its steel tubing facility in Youngstown and TMK Ipsco’s $10 million investment in a steel tube production facility in Brookfield.
The morning’s keynote speaker, Kathryn Klaber, who serves as the first president and executive director of the Marcellus Shale Coalition (MSC), will discuss the future of this natural gas source and the region’s role in that future. Klaber works on behalf of MSC member companies with elected leaders, regulators and the civic community to realize the responsible development of natural gas from the Marcellus Shale geological formation and economic enhancement that can be realized by this clean-burning energy source.
Representatives from Gas Business Briefing, a gas industry news and research service from Pittsburgh, will also present information on its services and industry trends.
And as in past years, the Regional Chamber’s Vice President of Economic Development, Retention and Expansion Walter Good will review 2010’s economic development progress, look ahead in 2011 and debut our newest results video.
