Regional Chamber Announces Agenda for Utica Shale Conference and Trade Show

The president & COO of V&M Star and JobsOhio’s energy czar will be among the keynote speakers at the Regional Chamber’s Youngstown Ohio Utica & Natural Gas (YOUNG) 2011 conference and trade show. The day-long event will take place Wednesday, Nov. 30, at the Covelli Centre in downtown Youngstown.
YOUNG, Ohio’s first Utica shale play conference, is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. During that time, attendees may view all of the exhibits, as well as learn about the science of hydrofracking and essential tips for landowners. Speakers will be:

The afternoon session will target local and national companies that want to learn more about the supply chain for the oil and natural gas industry and hear about Ohio’s receptiveness to the investment and job creation activities associated with shale gas. Among the afternoon experts are:

Walt Good, the Regional Chamber’s vice president of Economic Development, Business Retention & Expansion, said, “Ohio’s shale plays are transforming this region’s and our nation’s economy. This event gives participants the ability to hear from and interact with those at the forefront of this burgeoning energy revolution.”

The conference and tradeshow will feature exhibits from companies involved in the supply chain for the industry. Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 396 will have two large trailers on the floor filled with hands-on displays that demonstrate advanced welding practices.
The morning session is open to the public, and entry is free. The afternoon session, which includes a business after hours networking event at 5:30 p.m., costs $50.
