Melissa Maiorano came onboard at the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber in September 2021 as the Manager of Workforce Development to focus on the Ohio To Work initiative and engage businesses with workforce development resources in the Valley and was promoted to Director in April 2022. She is managing the Chamber’s JobsNOW initiative that supports businesses in publicizing available jobs, reducing hiring costs and attracting talent; oversees the organization’s workforce development efforts; and supports Chamber members by facilitating connections to business, education and economic development partners.
Maiorano is actively working toward her Ohio Certified Economic Developer credential, having already completed Workforce and Talent Acquisition, Site Selection/Site Development and Real Estate Development and Financing courses. She has two more essential courses to complete in the Fall and will go on to complete the Ohio Economic Development Institute Capstone Course in 2023.
The Boardman resident serves on the Workforce Development Boards of Area 17 and 18, Mahoning/ Columbiana and Trumbull counties. Additionally, she serves on Kent State University-Trumbull’s Advisory Board and engages with Ohio’s Technical Centers stakeholder meetings and Business Advisory Councils of Mahoning and Trumbull counties.
Prior to joining the Chamber, Maiorano worked for Rite Aid Pharmacy’s regional team in the Youngstown market, where she recruited and trained pharmacy technicians. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science in 2018 from Muskingum University, where she played varsity softball. She was a 4-year letterman and was recognized by the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) and the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).
