International Trade and Foreign Direct Investment

COEAs a business strategy, exporting promotes growth and stability within companies. The OH-PA-Region metro area exports approximately one quarter of its goods to international markets. Given its importance in our local economy, the Regional Chamber is committed to assisting companies with international trade whether attracting foreign direct investment or exploring exporting opportunities.

Ohio-Pennsylvania Stateline Export Initiative (OPEI)

Focused on growing exports along with building foreign direct investment in the region, this ten-county program was founded in collaboration by the Regional Chamber, Youngstown State University-Export Assistance Network Office and Northwest Commission of Pennsylvania.

The ten counties border the Ohio and Pennsylvania state line and include Ashtabula, Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull in Ohio and Beaver, Butler, Crawford, Erie, Lawrence and Mercer in Pennsylvania.

The initiative offers programs and direct assistance specifically geared toward growing exports. Information services are also provided to assist foreign companies with their investment into the 10-county region.
