The Regional Chamber is pleased to announce two 422 Corridor Community work days in April. Businesses, co-workers, neighbors and anyone else who would like to participate are invited to help clean up garbage/dumping throughout the area, board vacant homes in the Brier Hill neighborhood and help with brush removal and reclaiming of overgrown sidewalks and driveways on April 23 and/or April 30. Gloves, bags, tools and lunch will be provided to those who want to volunteer.

Details for the work days include:
Saturday, Apr. 23, 8:30 a.m.: Youngstown community workday
Volunteers will meet at the Brier Hill Cultural Center, 149 Jefferson Ave., Youngstown, and work in the surrounding neighborhood towards Arlington Heights Recreation Center and the 422 roadway.
Saturday, Apr. 30, 8:30 a.m.: Girard community workday
Volunteers will meet at Stambaugh Park on Moser Rd., Girard, and work on the park, surrounding neighborhood and down towards the 422 corridor roadway.
Workday partners and sponsors include Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corporation, Trumbull County Commissioners, City of Girard, Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership, Youngstown State University Regional and Economic Development Initiative, YSUScape, YSU Honors College, Mahoning Valley Young Professionals, Jib Jab – Girard, Republic Waste Services, Green Youngstown and others.
The 422 Corridor Redevelopment Plan was created with community stakeholders in 2014 to transform the stretch of 422 at the intersection of Mahoning and Trumbull counties and build an attractive commercial and residential gateway into Youngstown and Girard. Action teams set forth under the plan are tackling blight removal, cleanup, landscaping and beautification projects, bike trail construction, building façade improvements and more.
