Applications for the Leadership Mahoning Valley class of 2018-2019 are now available and may be submitted through June 1, 2018.

Created to identify individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences who demonstrate leadership talent and community commitment, the program provides adult community leaders with a general overview of the Mahoning Valley, an opportunity for increased understanding of key community issues and the potential to develop effective working relationships with other civic leaders.

Participants complete a 9 -month program, which includes nine monthly daylong sessions that focus on major community systems such as education, health, human service, heritage, government, justice, labor, business, poverty and diversity. All sessions provide the opportunity for the class to share relevant learning experiences and to interact with leaders from sectors of the community outside their own.

A selection committee composed of Leadership Mahoning Valley members will review all applications received by the June 1, 2018, deadline. The selection committee will choose up to 40 participants for the 2018-2019 class.

Selection criteria include recognized leadership ability in the applicant’s field and a demonstrated commitment to community service. Candidates may request applications directly or be nominated to apply by their employer, a program graduate or others. Every effort is made to attract applications that ensure a class that reflects the diversity of this area's occupations, its racial, religious and ethnic groups, as well as a balanced demographic and geographic mix.

The tuition fee of $2,000 covers all program costs, including meals, admission fees and program supplies. Selected applicants will be billed for tuition. Applications may be requested by e-mail at karen@regionalchamber.com or by phone at 330-744-2131, x1241. The Leadership Mahoning Valley office is located in the First National Bank Building, 11 Central Square, Suite 1600, Youngstown, Ohio 44503.
