The Youngstown Air Reserve Station’s (YARS) annual economic impact on the Valley increased for the sixth consecutive year to $137.3 million, the Eastern Ohio Military Affairs Commission (EOMAC) and Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber announced.

Private companies invested more than $2.9 billion in the Valley last year, many with the help of regional economic development agencies. According to data compiled by the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber and its economic development partners—and published in the 2020 Economic Development Report Card—a total of 78 projects resulted in $2,956,016,640 invested, 4,191 new jobs and 1,965 retained jobs.

Macy’s Corporate Services LLC, operating as a distribution and logistics center for Macy’s Inc. in North Jackson, has announced plans to expand at the facility to operate a fulfillment center. The project will include a $29.9 million capital investment to accommodate this growth, add 417 new jobs and retain 55 employees.

The Regional Chamber is joining other Ohio businesses and trade organizations that have raised their voices in support of a grassroots effort to mobilize Ohioans in helping to stop the spread of the virus. Led by the Ohio Business Roundtable (OBRT), employers announced the Coalition to Stop the Spread, an initiative that recognizes the risk COVID-19 poses to Ohio’s economy and the gains that have been made since the initial shutdowns of businesses and schools.
