The Regional Chamber and partner MAGNET will honor and present the Haltec Corporation of Salem with the second annual Excellence in Manufacturing Award at the Chamber’s Economic Forecast breakfast on Nov. 14 at Mr. Anthony’s in Boardman.

For nearly 50 years, the Haltec Corporation has been the leader in the tire valve industry. When underground mines were transitioning from rail wheels to rubber tires, Haltec was there to design and manufacture the tire valve systems required to meet their technical needs. Many new product innovations were introduced by Haltec, including the Full-Flo and Super Large bore valve designs. These designs provided the tire industry the unique products required to achieve faster flow rates, decreased downtime and more efficient tire management.

Haltec has received the Caterpillar Supplier Quality Excellence Award for the past three years, exhibiting excellent process control, showing a desire for ongoing continuous improvement and providing quality product to Caterpillar customers. The company also received the Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP), recognizing small employers that operate an exemplary safety and health management system. Haltec is one of about 29 companies in the State of Ohio to achieve this status.

Sarah Boyarko, COO at the Regional Chamber, said, “We are pleased to have the opportunity to recognize another significant employer in our market. Haltec has increased its exports by 20 percent over the past two years and also continues to increase its market share in the U.S. With a full range of industrial services at its Salem facility, Haltec has become more efficient and innovative over the years to better service customers.”

The Haltec Corporation was chosen to receive the Excellence in Manufacturing Award, which focuses on a company’s longevity in business, growth, product innovation and achievement, from among 12 nominations.

The Economic Forecast breakfast, sponsored by First National Bank, will feature keynote speaker Chris Cwiklinski, CFA, senior vice president and director of Portfolio Management for FNB Wealth Management’s Cleveland Region, as well as Dan Brockett from the Penn State Extension Shale Energy Education Team.
